Carol and Dan Johnson live at the base of Windy Ridge in Southern Oregon on a 190 acre ranch where they have raised cattle for many years.  Laura Heyden and David Brightman live about five miles away on an 80 acre farm.  Both couples have been friends for many years. Carol and Laura both loved and had Golden Retrievers. Laura raised and trained Golden Retrievers for AKC Hunt Tests and Obedience trials for many years under the kennel name of Lor-Hy.  Carol, for several years, has raised Boston Terriers (under the kennel name Two Trees) and wanted to move towards agility competition with her Golden Retiever Sage (Emberain Sage A Leaping 2T).  The natural combination of Carols' animal husbandry skills and Lauras' training abilities are the foundation for Windy Ridge.

Windy Ridge is built on the principles that Golden Retriever should be intelligent, of sound temperament, correct conformation and be able to do the job they were bred to do.  WR Goldens have the will and desire to please and the style and drive to compete in all performance events.  Most imporantly, these Goldens are family companions.
